Who Are We?

Formed in 1996 within the Chicago FBI Field Office, InfraGard is a Public / Private Partnership between the FBI and the private sector, more specifically the sixteen DHS aligned Critical Sectors (http://www.dhs.gov/). Put simply, InfraGard is an association of persons who represent businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the U.S.

Goals / Objectives

The primary goals / objectives of InfraGard are:

  1. To Educate the American public in regards to potential threats and /or vulnerabilities that exist within the country’s vast critical infrastructure.
  2. To facilitate a unilateral exchange of information between the FBI, the owners and operators of the national infrastructure, along with those persons involved in the protection of critical infrastructure / key resources.
  3. To advance education and outreach in regard to the protection and preservation of critical infrastructure / key resources.

InfraGard Program Mission Statement

To support an information sharing partnership between the private and public sectors for the purpose of protecting the nation’s critical infrastructures against attacks or failure caused by either foreign or domestic threats, and to support all FBI investigative programs, especially Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Cyber Crime.

What is Crirical Infrastructure?

“Systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters.”
